The course examines genetic variation transmission through time and space, covering genetic drift, mutation, coalescence theory, demography, population structure, selection, fitness, quantitative traits, selective sweeps, and molecular adaptation. It emphasizes theory, simulations, and data analysis with case studies including drug resistance evolution, ancestry mapping, experimental evolution, and human population genetics.

A graduate seminar based on current scientific literature. Students participate in discussions and present at least one paper. Prerequisite: BIOMG 4810, BTRY 4810, or instructor permission.
